As the curtain falls on Iron Fist Tournament 4, Jin Kazama carves a vengeful swathe through his family, defeating Kazuya and Heihachi in a furious battle at Mishima Zaibatsu headquarters. Suddenly an army of Jacks bursts through the walls and ambushes the Mishima clan. Jin flees and Kazuya betrays his father by heaving him into the path of the murderous Jacks to escape himself. Seconds later, Honmaru, Heihachi's personal residence atop the Zaibatsu, is consumed in a titanic explosion with the elder Mishima still inside. A mysterious man in black who has been observing the struggle scans the flaming ruins and intones into his radio: "Heihachi Mishima is dead."

Reviews from Amazon.com & Amazon.co.uk Best Tekken in the series , February 26, 2005

This game blows me away. Tekken has always been the most solid fighting game on the ps2 and this one is no exception. The graphics are mind blowing easily one of the most visually appealling games on the ps2 ever. The character models look great and the music fits in more than any of the others have before it. The dumb position changes and different leveled floors from tekken 4 have been smartly removed. It seemed they listed to the users and just added in everything we wanted to see. The customization feature strongly resembles Vf4's in that you can change the colours of your costume, buy items and truly make your favourite character your own. you can then take your character in Arcade mode and raise you players rank and the challenge gets harder and harder. The only thing that keeps this from being perfect is no Online play but it makes it up with the amount of new things in the game. the three new characters in the game are all very differnt from the origional characters apart from Asuka Kazama who is related to Jun Kazama who was killed after Tekken 2 they share the same kind of fighting style and moves that fans of Jun will recognize and pick up on. Tekken 5 has the best roster in the game since tekken 3 with alot of returning characters not seen in the tekken game since tekken 2 (not including Tag Tournament) What makes this even more clever is that they have added Tekken 1, 2 and 3 into the Aracade History mode so you potentially have almost all of Tekken's history on one disk. I think this is a must buy for any fighting game fan or even someone who enjoys a great multiplayer, Tekken 5 is awesome.
Surprisingly Excellent and Fresh , February 25, 2005

I was thoroughly dissappointed by Tekken 4: Sluggish Pace, Boring Additions and nothing really ground-breaking. Tekken 5 surprised me by being an amazing game, what Tekken 4 should have been. The graphics are excellent as is the music. There are ending cinemas once you beat the game again, and as before, some are great, some are just OK, but either way they are all good enough to merit beating the game which each character. The new characters are good, fresh breath of air that help mix it up a bit. As for the returning roster, the old characters have enough moves and enough of a new look to them to make them interesting once again. There aer a slew of extra modes, a Tekken tradition, although it always comes down to gameplay and Tekken is great here. Though nothing is revolutionary, the game has been sped up again which is nice, the silly slopes from Tekken 4 are gone, but not the walls: the good stayed, the bad was weeded out. The game takes a LOT from Virtua Fighter 4, basically the addition of items for your character to wear along with a monetary system to motivate you to win and buy things; also, the arcade feel of Virtua Fighter was borrowed in that fighters also have names other than their character names (such as a "Paul" character being called "GRIZZLIE187" or such). Anyway, the game is great and lots of fun, however I could only give it 4 stars because it doesn't really bring anything new to the table. Instead, it takes the best parts of Virtua Fighter 4 along with the best parts of the Tekken series. The result, is a fun, addictive, satisfying game.
I CAN'T WAIT! , December 3, 2004

Tekken 4 is my favourite game of all time, with its numerous modes and characters. There was only one down side to the game and that was that there was a slight like of characters.
This game looks absolutely amazing. It leads on from where Tekken 4 left off with the end of the king of iron fist tournament 4.
I'm pretty sure that all of the characters from the previous game are in here. (Including my favourite Steve Fox.) There are also new and some old charcters and trust me the new and old characters look amazing!
The graphics of the game look slightly improved. The characters seem to look better and the environments look a lot better aswell.
The gameplay as always will probabaly be amazing and fairly easy to pick up and impossible to completely master with endless ten move combos to learn.
This game isn't out until next year but I am already praising it because it lokks and will be absolutely amazing.
If you get the chance visit the website at WWW.TEKKEN-OFFICIAL.JP
Here you will see all of the amazing characters (new and old) and the story behind them. I think there are still five or ten more to be added and there are already twenty five on there! You can see all of the incredible drawings of the characters and some screenshots of them.
Overall I think that game will score nine and ten out of ten everywhere and will be one of the games of the year, if not all time!
TEKKEN BLASTS US AWAY AGAIN !!! , August 19, 2004

I am a true Tekken fan i have played all the series and have always been satisfyed with every single one. Comparing this game to Dead or Alive 3, Virtue fighter 4 or any fighting game obviously to us tekken fans there is no comparison, But to a few fools out there there is. The fighting is truely captivating there are thousands of moves and combos the fighting is so much more complex then other fighting games. But for all those butten tappers out there just dont even bother buying this game go for DOA3. The graphics on this game are exponential 9.5/10 there are 3 new characters Raven, Asuka Kazama, Feng Wei, Kazuya Mishima has his purple suit back (yay) and Heihachi is dead (Wey and Boo) And also there is a new jack - Jack-5 the one responsable for heihachi's death, if your a true fighting gamer then you definatly need to add this to your collection of fighting games.

Though Tekken 5 has not yet benn released it's easy to see that its going to be one hell of a fighting game.
It takes place just after Tekken 4 and Jin has just won.Suddenly tones of Jack units come flying through the dojo roof and Heihachi and Kazuya start to rip them apart. However there is just too many of them. Kazuya seems to get out alright but Heihachi is killed by the Jack units.
I got all this from the video Namco released to promote the game and it looks much better then 4 does. There are 3 new characters, Asuka Kazam,Raven and Feng Wei,although Asukas' fighting style is the same as Juns'was.
I can't wait for November to come. If any of you havn't seen the video(shame on you), you can search for tekken 5 at google and look for one of the first websites that comes up,it gives the video for free. |
