Back to basics - well lets Rock again then Baby! , February 7, 2005

This is a prequel to the Devil May Cry series and looks to be much better than the second in the series. The story is set in Dante's past where you find out more about his heritage and the battle between Dante and his evil brother Virgil. The developers for DMC3 have gone back to basics and have brought back what was much loved in the first DMC. The witty remarks of the much loved but younger Dante are back with a vengeance and there are some outstanding new moves. Dante has 4 fighting styles that you can select to develop - gunslinger, swordsman, trickster and Royal Guard. As a Gunslinger you can learn moves such as 'Fireworks' where Dante will spin his guns and fire in all directions, and 'Rainstorm' where Dante jumps in the air spinning and fire a hail of bullets down. As a swordsman, you can throw your sword and then use dish out some punch and kicks. Dante can gain a 3 spiked nunchuka from fighting a Cerberus type creature and he starts doing a really cool Kata. The Trickster develops more acrobatic moves like running up walls and not much is known about Royal Guard. Dante can spin around a poles to kill bad guys, and he even surfs marionettes!! How cool is that? I suggest that you search for Devil May Cry 3 trailers on the web to see just how cool it looks. They have made this game more interesting by forcing you to develop close quarter combat as well as long distance to be successful in missions. There is also more cohesion in storyline too as this was severely lacking in its predecessor and there will be cut scenes at the beginning and end of every mission now too. This game is a definite must for those who loved the first but were disappointed in the second Devil May Cry.

Devil May Cry 3 I can tell you is going to be one of the coolest,death defying,glory seeking,gun blazin',swigs of a game to hit the console market EVER.Dante returns younger and more cooler looking than ever, he returns with more smart mouthed comments than both DMC 1+2 put together, he returns more innocently young yet just as tough and he returns with an electric guitar that can kick the living hell out of any enemy.In this installment we learn more about Dantes true beginnings, involving Sparda and one true bad brother of his whom he will fight at the end, the graphics are immense thanks to a totally new engine driving the game and there are now 4 or even more i hear styles of gameplay each with its own unique and customizable moves.
If you want to see this for yourself go to www.gamershell.com and search for devil may cry 3 and download the 4min e3 trailer (43MB) and you will not be dissapointed.
Devil May Cry is returning with a veangance and Dante looks ready to truly kick ass once again.

Having played the Demo Version of DMC3, I must admit that the new Dante Style element actually proves to be very useful. Players can choose between 'Trickster', 'Swordsman' or 'Shooter', Trickster being the less favourable with me as it just adds jumping and running elements - by far the most satisfying is the 'Shooter' option and this allows you to have special shootiing moves at your disposal. This game is good and I can't wait for the oroginal to come out - the demo has an Ice 3 Headed Wolf-like creature in it that is as tough as nails and in true DMC style - totally over the top and absolutely massive in scale. The visuals are closer to DMC2 in that they are darker than the original DMC and still very Goth, the enemy's equally scary, watch out for the Death like creatures with huge Scythes...you thought the witches in DMC2 with the Scythes were good, wait till you see these.
Some of the background can be interacted with and by using the spear-head charge attack with your sword...
* Spoiler *
In the alleyway before you get to the castle with the 3 headed wolf, there is a garbage truck that can be spear-headed, an orb is released containing lots of energy - trust me, you'll need it for the fight...
So all in all, a very enjoyable game, demo aside, I will be getting this game when it's released as a full version, I've always been a fan of Dante and Ebony and Ivory rock. |
