 Game Description

After a series of crimes are committed in which he is the prime suspect, Alleron must travel the land of Arden to set things right. You’ll have to guide Alleron though more than 20 levels spanning nine worlds to get to the bottom of everything. Along the way, you will have to fight more than 30 new classes of monsters and enemies. Luckily, dozens of weapons, armors, and spells are available. When you fight, you have number of special moves to unleash including a shield check that stuns enemies leaving them open for an attack. Alleron, disgraced Captain of the Guard, stands accused of Necromancy, witchcraft in its darkest form.

"How do you plead?" rasps the Grand Inquisitor.

Alleron does not react.

"Guilty!" the crowd shouts in unison.

"Throw him into the Pit!" a woman screams.

The Grand Inquisitor motions to one of his hooded mercenaries. The man walks to the center of the square holding a gruesome mask of most cruel design.

Alleron is suspended painfully, his arms outstretched, ropes around his wrists tied to widely separated posts. The mask is handed to the Grand Inquisitor, who raises it up for the crowd to see.

"The Mask of the Accused!" he thunders. The crowd roars in approval.

The Grand Inquisitor turns to face Alleron. Placing the mask upon the prisoner's head, he speaks an incantation. There is a sudden swirl of mist and light as the mask locks into place on Alleron's head.

The crowd roars again.

"Let the journey to your salvation begin!" declares the Grand Inquisitor.

Amazon.com Review
Warriors of Might and Magic returns us to Enroth (last visited in the lackluster Crusaders of Might and Magic for the PlayStation console), and gives us a world filled to the brim with deadly dungeons populated by foul creatures. You portray Alleron, a warrior accused of the crime of necromancy who's forced to wear a hideous mask that stays in place by digging its talons into your face (shudder). Then, to add insult to injury, you are flung into the Pit of the Accursed and must fight your way out to break the curse and remove the mask.

The drawbacks are obvious at first glance. The graphics are a little under par for the PS2. Everything looks kind of washed out and drab, and the animations are jerky and stilted. Certainly the PS2 is capable of better than this.

The rest of the game consists of fighting, jumping puzzles, more fighting, magic use, and collecting better armor and weapons by way of, well, more fighting. The puzzles are fairly easy--except perhaps the jumping puzzles--but the combat is fast, furious, and fun. As combat is 90 percent of this game, it's easy to recommend Warriors of Might and Magic to people who are itching for action. --Andrew S. Bub

Pros:
Lots of hacking and slashing.
Interesting environments.

Cons:
Bland graphics.
Slow, stilted animations.
