From the Manufacturer
Splashdown Rides Gone Wild, the sequel to the critically acclaimed and top-selling racing game of 2001,offers and even wilder experience than the original. Inspired by the spectacle and excitement of theme parks and thrill rides, Splashdown Rides Gone Wild has you blasting through huge, imaginative locales with amazing sights and startling events around every corner.
Splashdown's famously beautiful water has evolved as well: bigger waves, swift currents, and treacherous downhill rivers. There are also plenty of tricky, technical indoor stadium courses, plus a freestyle stunt mode, an all-new technical time trials mode for hardcore racers, and more.
Combining larger-than-life arcade fun with the realistic physics and controls that THQ's Rainbow Studios is known for, this game blows everything else out of the water!
Features:
- Go water-racing in 8 huge outdoor courses, with 12 new races in 12 new stadium tracks.
- Blast through huge imaginative locales as you try for first in multiple game modes: Arcade Mode, Time Trial and more.
- Gain points by completing goals and setting records, then use your points to buy unlockable items for better racing.
- Try out the new stunt-chain system -- it lets you kick off more than 75 separate stunts.
- If you're all about the stunts, try the new Freestyle Mode and catch big air and big air.
- Animated events and path changes bring a new level to the water-racing madness.
- Entertaining characters with plenty of funny dialogue and animations, to keep you laughing the whole time.

Excellent Game (Just like the first)! , August 13, 2003
Reviewer: A gamer (NJ USA) Don't think that just because you own the first Splashdown, you have seen all the series has to offer. This sequel is well worth buying, especially since it is cheaper than most PS2 games.
The major differences between Splashdown and Splashdown: Rides Gone Wild is the realism factor. The original tried to be somewhat of a sim while having some arcade features. The new one does the opposite. It has very arcade-like levels and trick combos, but still maintains a slightly realistic feel. It also has excellent realistic looking water graphics just like the original did.
Another difference between this and the first game is the sound. The first featured several Alternative/Rock bands for its soundtrack. However, this one has all original music that is not at all Alternative or Rock, but it works for the game.
Overall, if you played and liked the first Splashdown, you will not be disappointed with the sequel. It is a bit different, but hey, a sequel shouldn't just be a rehash of the first one. I think the changes they made were for the better. If you've never played the original Splashdown, but enjoy racing games (like SSX) then you will also enjoy the new Splashdown.
