They race blades - gleaming and sharp, pushed by ramjet engines to impossible speeds, they ride the knife-edge between victory and oblivion.
Each rider has a burning reason to become the Powerdrome champion. This lust for victory brings them into dramatic conflict both on and off the track – the galaxy watches and holds its breath.
There are 12 different individual player characters in Powerdrome. each one has their own unique personality and driving style.
Though the vehicles of the Powerdrome are derived from a number of sources, once fitted and modified for racing they are generically referred to as “blades”. The common elements of each blade are these: Streamlined, open cockpit vehicles using basic gravity lift systems & aerodynamic control surfaces, all driven by simple jet engines with a top speed augmented by a powerful afterburner. Most blades are easily capable of supersonic speeds. Decommissioned military vehicles, home built rigs constructed from scavenged parts and purpose made racers utilising the latest technology all compete on an even footing, testament to the diverse skill of the entrants and their race crews.
Tracks:
The courses over which Powerdrome races take place are as diverse as the blades and their pilots. Across a number of worlds and systems, tracks range from deliberately constructed race ovals to tortuous cross country circuits that traverse a wide range of environments. Liberated from gravity, the blades are free to race across land and sea; from the oceans of Mata Wai, to the lush rainforest of Soomis and the hostile ash wastes of Gethsemane.. |
