 Game Description

With Pool Paradise you find yourself shipwrecked and penniless on an idyllic south pacific desert island. It just so happens that scattered around the beach are a variety of pool tables and subgames. There are also 30 opponents for you to challenge depending on how good you are and how much cash you’ve won to stake against better opponents. You can spend the cash on an assortment of game play aids or just daft things, all available in the beach shop. Also, various hidden areas and other features can be unlocked with your winnings. Besides a bunch of subgames, there’s a practice table out on the beach under the shade of swaying palm trees and next to the waves rolling up the beach.

When you feel you’re good enough you can enter the competition hut and start climbing the championship ladder.

There are 11 sets of pool rules including US and UK 8 Ball, 9 Ball, 10 Ball, 14:1 Rotation, Killer, and Bowliards.

Try to beat computer opponents, represented by highly detailed animated hands, that gesture their feelings as matches progress.

Or you can just have fun in the Crazy Table hut that’s full of exotic shaped tables with varying physical behaviour.

 Paradise Pool - Playstation 2 Review , May 5, 2004
Reviewer: indy19685 from Basingstoke, Hampshire United Kingdom
This is, quite simply, the best pool game I have ever played on ANY console. The gameplay mechanics are quite simply brilliant and the AI of your opponent is very good. However, as always playing against a mate is infinitely better as always! The analog control for your actual cue action is very good and feels very natural and enables you to be more accurate when taking your shot in terms of power and control - it works in the same way that the analog stick controls your golf swing in EA's recent Tiger Woods golf games. The graphics are very good, and the sub games included (Dropzone, Darts to name 2) are nice touch too. The darts game in particular is a favourite of mine and plays very well in its own right. This game is a an absolute steal at £19.99 and a must have purchase for any one after a pool simulation for their PS2. Put simply, this dumps all over the competition and sends them home in a body bag for good measure.
