Haven: Call of the King is the story of a young hero's epic journey to free his enslaved people from the clutches of the evil Lord Vetch. Using Traveller's Tales' advanced T-Total gaming engine, which allows a multitude of genres to be seamlessly integrated into one game, Haven: Call of the King features many gameplay styles - platforming, turret-based shooting, boat and land vehicle racing, arena combat and space exploration. Players will travel through lava-filled subterranean mines, then race across oceans in jet-powered speedboats to pilot spaceships for interplanetary dogfights - all without a break in gameplay. Available Winter 2002, Haven: Call of the King is poised to transcend the boundaries of interactive technology.

Amazon.co.uk Review
Haven: Call of the King clearly has the best of intentions, setting out to be a sort of Legend of Zelda jack-of-all-trades, specialising in some good old-fashioned 3-D platform leaping. The game does have variety in its favour, with tons of mini-games and lots of vehicles and weapons to commandeer. Indeed, the various levels are commendably interactive, even if far too many of them are interspersed with Crash Bandicoot style out-of-screen platform sections. There's also a bizarre obsession with crockery: health pots, explosive urns, hint vases and more litter this game world.

Unfortunately, the skittish controls and poor level design ensure that running and jumping around the game world is far less fun than it should be, especially with your irritating yo-yo/grappling hook constantly causing you to get caught in explosions you really didn't think you were anywhere near. With top quality titles like Jak and Daxter and Ratchet & Clank around, Haven is really only worth trying if you already have all these games and desperately want to play something similar--but not half as good. -- David Jenkins
