| If you’ve ever been on an American highway, then you’ve seen those big, intimidating, hulking warehouses on wheels that take up an entire lane-width of road, better known as big rigs or 18-wheelers. And now, thanks to Acclaim, you can drive your own in 18-WHEELER AMERICAN PRO TRUCKER.
Based on the arcade game of the same name, you’ll be behind the wheel of a truck that’s hauling 20 tons of cargo, and your goal is to get from New York City to San Francisco, stopping at various checkpoints in between.
There are five drivers to choose from each with a unique personality and driving abilities so choose the one that fits your driving style and get ready to hit the road.
The goal is to get from place to place in the allotted time, avoiding accidents, traffic snarls, and forces of nature beyond your control.
Although this is an arcade port, you’ll actually have more options to choose from in the PS2 version, including new gameplay modes and more stages.

This game is so cool. Acclaim did a great job creatig this game. I's just like being a trucker. If you like to just drive around (as in drive cross-country), this is the game for you. Rent or buy it today foryour PlayStation2 game console! Happy gaming...
 Too Bad, Why Even Make it? , July 23, 2002

I used to have a gamecube but I traded it in for a PS2 because it had a lot more games and better games. I normally love racing games but this game was horrible. These are some of the reasons I disliked this game
1 There are only 4 levels, HOW BORING
2 The game was just too slow paced with these big heavy trucks
3 There are only 4 trucks to choose from, just NOT ENEOUGH
4 It is almost impossible, you only get 70 seconds to travel halfway across the country, DUH!!
5 And, most dissapointing , it is way too unrealistic, both in physics and that you have to go from somewhere in NY to Key West
in 70 seconds!
In conclusion, DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY BUYING OR RENTING IT (And don't waste your time looking at it.)

18 Wheeler is only a very average game at best. I am a big fan of all racing games, but the action in this game is too SLOW to keep me interested. After playing through a couple of levels, I was bored with this game.
The graphics do not live up to the Playstation 2, in fact this game looks more like a Playstation one game.
If you enjoyed the arcade game, you may like this, but I would recommend renting this before buying it. |

Level Jumps:
Hold L and press A + Y + X + B + Left Start at main menu
Bonus parking levels:
Successfully complete each of the four parking levels
to unlock an additional parking level. Successfully complete the
bonus parking level to unlock a sixth parking level.
Nippon Maru:
Hold X and press Start at the title screen.
Keep X held until the mode selection screen appears. Choose
any mode to drive the Nippon Maru truck. Alternately, successfully
complete arcade mode with all four trucks.
Lizard Tail:
Successfully complete the game with all five trucks
(Asphalt Cowboy, Stream Line, Long Horn, Highway Cat, and Nippon
Maru).
Bonus trailers:
Successfully complete arcade mode with all four characters
to unlock two bonus trailers in score attack mode, versus mode,
and arcade mode (if the Nippon Maru is selected).
Hint: Bonus parts:
Go to arcade mode and select any truck. Get to your
destination ahead of your rival , then complete the bonus parking
mini-game to win bonus parts. Note: This works on any destination.
Hint: Shifting:
For Highway Cat and Stream Line, shift up when at about
50 mph.
Hint: Slip stream:
When you are behind a truck, your size you will get
a slip stream. This will allow you to get a small boost to get
in front of the truck.
